Taking forward Cherishing God’s Earth – an invitation to join our Lent Plastic Challenge
The autumn series of talks, in memory of John Gordon, explored what our faith has to say about our care of creation. These thought-provoking talks have inspired us to think about what we can do more of to ‘Cherish God’s Earth’. On Sunday 10th February, we will be launching this new initiative and mission in our Church and Parish life, when we will be inviting you to join us in our Lent Plastic Challenge.
Lent is the time when we remember Jesus spending 40 days in the wilderness, facing challenge and temptation. This Lent we want to challenge you to reduce your single-use plastics and to consider how you can reduce your impact on God’s creation. What changes can you make to your lifestyle to reduce your use of single-use plastics for 40 days?
Interested in taking up this challenge for 40 days? Then please pick-up your Lent Plastic Challenge calendar from St Mary’s Church or click here to download a copy.
Why not put it up in your kitchen…maybe on the fridge…as a reminder?
Please also visit our display material in church for ideas and to share your experience of reducing your impact on God’s creation during Lent. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter too!

Tickets are cheaper in advance at £12 from Wallingford Town Information Centre or online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/wrw2019. See poster or pick up a brochure for full details.
Would you like to help on the night? Contact Roger Morgan in person or on 01491 837494. Anita is again generously donating proceeds to the Tower Fund – last year she gave £3,000 from 4 recitals so do give your support!
We are at the final stages of raising funds to cover the cost of repairs to the west side of the tower, which dates from the 1650s. We need a boost to get work under way in 2019. Do help if you can with a donation via JustGiving. Any amount is much appreciated. Thank you.
