The official ‘launch’ of this year’s Celebration of Light will be on 1st Dec with ‘Apéritifs‘ –  come along at 5.30pm for wine and cheese; see the 5,000 lights switched on at 6.00pm and enjoy an hour of humorous sketches, poetry and a variety of musical entertainment. We have timed this so that you can still go to concerts, cinema or out to dinner! No tickets needed. Donations welcome.

During the afternoon of 2nd Dec we will be serving refreshments, including mulled wine, whilst the town’s ‘Shopping Extravaganza’ is running.  There will be an Advent Trail for children, which will be available throughout Advent.

On Wednesdays 6th and 19thDec you are invited to leave the hassle of Christmas preparations and come into St Mary’s for “Christmas Peace” where you will find tranquil music, occasional poetry reading and an atmosphere of calm.

Before the Town Carols on Wednesday 12th Dec, join us in Open Church and enjoy mulled wine and mince pies whilst experiencing the tiny lights and big tree.

Next day, Thursday 13th  Dec,come in for our Christmas Café, when refreshments will be served with a background of Christmas music and carols. You can sing along if you wish!  Good news:  free car parking in the town!

On Saturday, 15thDec, Wallingford Parish Church Choir will be performing their annual Christmas Carol Concert. This will include the inaugural performance of a new piece by the composer, David Ogden, commissioned for Sue Huntingford Ledger as a leaving gift from the choir. There will also be  a mix of carols and light-hearted numbers. Refreshments will available before and afterwards. Open to all, with no tickets necessary; retiring collection.

Throughout Advent you will find in the chancel the “Tree of Remembering” where you can place a star in memory of family and friends.
