The music group plays for the family service on the second Sunday of each month, leading the hymns (along with the junior choir). At present there are eleven musicians in the group (eight adults and three junior members) who play flutes, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, violins, viola, cello, trombone and piano.

As well as playing the hymns they also enjoy playing a short voluntary. In 2017 these included Vivaldi’s Spring in March, Hosanna from Lloyd Weber’s Jesus Christ Superstar for the Palm Sunday service, Amazing Grace on Remembrance Sunday, and in December—when David Rice’s gift service included a ‘wedding’—they played The Bridal March.

The music group always welcomes new instrumental players, both adults and young people from twelve years of age, of grade 3 standard and above. If you are interested in joining the music group please click contact janeeely@googlemail.com.
